Public Transit: Take Mississauga Transit route 110 OR route 1C Dundas OR route 44

All of these stop at the UTM bus loop, which is just steps away from the Student Centre.

We will have signs to help you figure out the way and also a volunteer who will be standing at the bus stop.

Driving: If you are driving, we're encouraging you to carpool, wherever possible.

The UTM campus is locatedoff Mississauga Road, between Burnhamthorpe (on the north) and Dundas (on the south).

You can enter the campus from the "middle entrance" or the "main entrance." Both have a traffic light. If coming from the north, turn left. If coming from the south, turn right.

Once you are in, continue straight towards Parking Lot 9 and the CCT Garage. You need to go through Parking Lot 9 to enter the CCT Parking Garage. Please park on P1 or P2, and we will have volunteers there to meet you at the Elevator Entrance.

Parking:

There is NO free parking on campus, but we will try to pre-purchase some parking passes for community members who are driving. If you are coming on behalf of an organization that can afford to pay for parking, we would appreciate it if you could pay your own parking - it will be about $14 for the day.

Please park on Level P1 or P2 of the CCT Parking Garage, and we will try to have volunteers there at the Elevator entrance to meet you. If you are planning on arriving later and there is no volunteer there, please take the elevator upstairs to Level 1, and follow the signs to the Student Centre.

ONCE THERE:

Registration: At the registration desk (which in on the main floor of the student centre), we will be asking you to choose from 3 workshops to attend from 3 pm to 4 pm. The choices are:

e1 zine making: Join LeRoi Newbold for a hands-on arts workshop, where we'll be using writing and drawing to learn about the culture of zines (which are Do-It-Yourself, grassroots, self-published versions of magazines) and to make one!

e2 employment equity: Devi Mohabir, one of the Mississauga Employment Equity Advocates will lead you through a workshop about employment equity using popular education techniques. Expect to reflect!

e3 stop wage theft!: Beixi Liu from the Workers Action Centre will be discussing the issue of Wage Theft - and talking about efforts to push for legislation and practices to end wage theft.

Student Centre: The main space we will be using is on the main floor. We'll also have two additional rooms upstairs (there are elevators to get upstairs) for the workshops.

Contact for the Day: If anything happens and you need to get in touch, you can call or text Anu at 416 618 6069 (no voicemail messages, please)

Health and Racism Working Group

Health and Racism Working Group is an anti-racism advocacy group, made up of community members and frontline workers.

HaR is interested in the connections between race and health - including looking at how racism impacts our health, and how to address barriers to accessing services for racialized and other marginalized communities.

From 2010-2011, we have been engaged in a project on employment equity, facilitated by our Employment Equity Advocates, focused on community education.
